SAVAGE AMUSEMENTS is a live performance group, founded collaboratively by DeAnna Pellecchia and musician Ed Broms. Their artistic convergence produces site-specific performance pieces that are equal parts live music, dance, performance art, theatrics, spoken word, improvisational spontaneity, provocative costuming, original set design, vocalization and everything unexpected. More accurately described as ‘live art installations’, their sets are presented at night clubs, bars, art galleries, and performance spaces throughout Boston.

Ed Broms, dubbed a true ‘Renaissance Man’ by The Boston Globe, has been a mainstay of the Boston and NYC music scenes for the past 25 years. He is currently the Music Director, Organist, and Choir Director at the Cathedral Church of St. Paul where he leads an eclectic program of world sacred music. He can be heard every Sunday morning from 730-800AM on WCRB 99.5 Waltham, as part of Sunday Morning at the Cathedral, one of the country’s longest running radio programs. He is also Artist-in-Residence at Eastern Nazarene College, where he is a featured performer in the Musica Eclectica series. He was a musician with Grammy-Nominated Blue Man Group from 1998-2005. A multi-instrumentalist, he performs on electric and acoustic bass, voice, Hammond organ, pipe organ, piano, keyboards, guitar, and percussion. He has performed and recorded with an extensive list of the world's leading rock, jazz, classical and world-music musicians, including musicians as diverse as Chuck Berry and John Zorn. He leads several of his own ensembles including The Broms Organ Trio (jazz), BROMS (rock), Rooster (blues), and Michael’s Daughter (celtic). In 2005 he founded and The Order of the Artists (multimedia) which in turn led to founding the world music group Nagbansi (ACM Records) featuring Nandlal Nayak of India and DJ Fraction of Paris, France. He is active as a composer and concert organist with upcoming recitals at Harvard, Trinity Church, Copley, Methuen Music Hall, and King’s Chapel. His debut Pipe organ CD of his own Organ Symphony #1 “Ainulindale” and the accompanying score are set to be released this fall on the Zimbel label. Also active as an author he has written several books on philosophy and music, including “An Encyclopedia of Polyrhythm”, and “The Book of the Artist”.

In this collaboratively created program, Ed plays a multi-instrumental “mutant rig” of his own design – basically all the instruments of a rock band played by one person. DeAnna showcases her unique choreographic style influenced by her studies in traditional dance technique, Hip-Hop, Tae Kwon Do, Capoeria, and Performance Theater. Red Charlie features “The Musettes”, Pellecchia’s platform, fish-net stocking, wig wearing performance troupe. The Musettes execute a series of vignettes addressing cultural and social connotations associated with the idea of “femininity” (made in collaboration with dancers Mary McCarthy and Ingrid Schatz ) which punctuate Ed’s sets. (Think Cyd Charisse meets Uma Thurman in KILL BILL). The program also features special guest performers including dancer Michael Jahoda as PHILLIP (super hero, prince and spoken word commentator), and musician DJ Fraction of Paris who premiered several electronica compositions as part of the performance.
Each evening featured a different guest vocalist including Eleonora Bianchini (Latin Vocals), Katherine Growdon (Renaissance Vocals), and Patrice Williamson (Jazz Vocals).
